HOLEE CRAP this took ages to do....!! <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_omg.gif" align="middle" alt="OMG" title="OMG" border="0" /> <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_omg.gif" align="middle" alt="OMG" title="OMG" border="0" /> But HOLEE CRAP it was damn FUN! <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_love.gif" align="middle" alt="Love" title="Love" border="0" /> <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_bounce.gif" align="middle" alt="Bounce" title="Bounce" border="0" /> Okay well, for starters this is a piece of gift art for , who is absolutely amazing for she took the time to comment constructively on every single deviation in my archive..! :jawdropping: Thus as a gift, I got her to request a pic - a golden haired kid riding a flying creature. Well you all know me, of course I picked a Phoenix. <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_wink.gif" align="middle" alt=" (Wink)" title=" (Wink)" border="0" /> And as usual, I went off on an enormous tangent and somehow dragged Norse myth into the whole she-bang... @____o;;; I don't even know that much about Norse myth, so how did that happen? <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_confuse.gif" align="middle" alt="Confused" title="Confused" border="0" /> *Is weird*
Well, just based on a bit of what I do know, Yggdrasil is the World-Tree which spreads its branches across the universe. I figured that the sun would be at the centre of the tree, and I decided to throw in some planets while I was it, just hanging off the branches as... well, I dunno, fruit? @___o;; *Munches on Venus* <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_xd.gif" align="middle" alt="XD" title="XD" border="0" /> Well, at the top of the tree sits an Eagle apparently, but HECK I wanted a Phoenix instead, so I sacked the Eagle from its job. <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif" align="middle" alt=" (Big Grin)" title=" (Big Grin)" border="0" /> I gave the newly recruited Phoenix rainbow plumage to fit in with Norse myth, in which a rainbow bridge leads the way into Asgard, or the home of the Gods.... *did I get that right?* <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_confuse.gif" align="middle" alt="Confused" title="Confused" border="0" />
And on that note, the next time I decide to draw a rainbow by mouse and tablet, kick me REALLY hard. O___- That was pretty stressful, as you can see... the phoenix, boy, and tree were coloured with pencils yesterday, and today I coloured in everything else via computer. I was going crazy with all the clouds and lights and things, that was the really fun part. <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_xd.gif" align="middle" alt="XD" title="XD" border="0" /> The kid probably can't be seen too clearly from a distance, but rest assured he's there! And yes, I'm aware that if the sun is that close and that big, the kid must be ENORMOUS, but this is supposed to be a dream, so anything goes! <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" align="middle" alt=" (Razz)" title=" (Razz)" border="0" />
Anyway, that should cover all the important details, so Felabba, enjoy your gift and thankyou so much again for the favour that you did for me. <img src="http://images.deviantart.com/emoticons/odd/icon_hug.gif" align="middle" alt="Hug" title="Hug" border="0" /> The inked version of this pic will also be waiting for you in the mail!
absolutely beautiful..
i saw it on my devwatch and was like...
"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY MORE ZEN ART!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!"
it made my day. god I love this stuff... the sun.. is so beautiful.
Holy CRAP! ::dies:: This is beautiful! You know a lot more about Norse stuff than I ever will x_x I damn near choked trying to say the word in the title It's been quite a wait for you to do another piece, but this was beyond well worth it. The colors, the movement..hell...everything is great! I really, REALLY love the bark! I will always be amazed by it O_o. I think the phoenix is better than a silly old eagle any day! Especially if it's this pretty ::drools:: Teehee, I'm really too busy gawking at this to make a better comment. I think I'll just shut up and fave it! :3

Your art always blows me away..... ....so much detail, and your unique coloring style make you one of my favorite artists....it would kill me to create something half that good...

WHOOOOOOOHOOOOO!!! I LOVE it! It's brilliant! Plus it's really really GOOD!
Yes, I'm aware that 'brilliant' and 'really really good' are roughly the same thing. Well, it's both of those! The patterns and detail add to the swirling effect of the picture, and the expression on the kid's face just makes it a whole lot of fun.
I'm glad you enjoyed doing it. I can't explain how happy I am you put so much effort into it...I'm...well, I'm just blown over.
Wow Zen this is awsome!! One of your best I really like the pheonix's tail...it's all COLOURFUL! The kid looks pretty happy but hey I would be to If I got to rid on a pheonix I like the little green pheonix best though it's so cute and.. green! Good job Zen keep it up...

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
